Look at your hands. Really look. They've done a lot.
Your hands carry your whole history. Take a moment to notice them.
When was the last time you actually looked at your own hands? Not to check your nails or wash them, but to really see them. The lines, the knuckles, the way they move. These hands have done everything you've ever done. Every meal cooked, every message typed, every person touched.
Hold them out in front of you. Turn them over. Notice the texture of your skin, the shape of your fingers, any scars or calluses that tell a story. Flex them open and closed. Watch the tendons move under the surface. These are yours. They've been with you since the beginning.
It's a strange kind of gratitude, thanking your own hands. But they ask for so little and do so much. Today, just notice them. Appreciate the quiet, constant work they do without complaint. They're good hands. They've carried you this far.
Try this today
- Hold your hands in front of you and look at them for thirty seconds
- Gently massage one hand with the other, pressing into the palm
- Notice one detail about your hands you've never paid attention to before
