Small future fortune
生涯喜復憂
未老先白頭
労心千百度
方遇貴人留
In English
- Through life, joy and sorrow take turns
- your hair turns white before you are old
- a thousand times you wear out your heart
- then you meet a worthy person who holds you
- Meaning
- Small future fortune fits a poem that starts with joy and worry taking turns, cares enough to whiten your hair early. After a thousand weary moments, a good person appears and asks you to stay, so there is no need to carry everything alone.
- What to do today
- Write your worries on paper and think about who you could talk them through with.
- A word from the capybara
- On a day full of thinking, a long soak in warm water helps most.
The explanations added by each temple differ. The poems and fortunes follow an Edo-period printed edition.
