Peek outside, like a pill bug after winter.
Awakening of insects is when creatures are said to come up from the soil. You can come out a little too.
a pill bug unrolls in the sun, and I step outside as well
Today is Keichitsu, the awakening of insects. The traditional calendar marks this as the time when small creatures that spent the winter underground start coming back up.
Pill bugs are a good example. When something startles them, they roll into a ball. After a while, they unroll and carry on walking as if nothing happened. It's a sensible way to deal with surprises.
Go outside for a few minutes today, even just to the corner and back. If something startles you, it's fine to curl up for a moment. Then keep walking.
Try this today
- Take a short walk outside
- If something startles you, pause and breathe
- Carry on as if nothing happened
