Fresh bread with butter. Some days, that's enough.
The bar for happiness is allowed to be much lower than you think.
You used to think happiness was something bigger. A great career. A perfect relationship. The dream apartment. Something to acquire, something to achieve.
Maybe it's actually different. A piece of warm bread, a generous spread of butter, the butter melting into the crust just right. Sunlight hitting the plate at a soft angle. The smell of wheat in the air.
This is enough today. More than that, being able to notice that this is enough is the foundation of a happiness that lasts. Lower the bar today. Lower it on purpose.
