Misfortune

枯木未生枝

独歩上雲岐

豈知身未穏

独自惹閑非

In English

  • The withered tree has yet to sprout a branch
  • you climb alone to a fork among the clouds
  • little knowing your footing is not yet sound
  • and on your own you invite needless trouble
Meaning
The first half has a tree with no branches yet and a lone climb to a fork in the clouds; the second shows how trouble follows when your footing is not sound. The trouble here is mostly self-made, which makes careful preparation, and some company, the remedy.
What to do today
Before moving on something you were deciding alone, talk it over with one person.
A word from the capybara
Sunbathing with the group beats climbing a mountain alone.
