Misfortune

雷発庭前草

炎火向天飛

一心来趕禄

争奈掩朱扉

In English

  • Lightning strikes the grass before the hall
  • flames leap up toward the sky
  • with one mind you chase after fortune
  • but what can be done when the red door shuts?
Meaning
The first half is violent, lightning in the yard and flames leaping skyward; the second is a dead end, a red door shut on someone chasing reward with all their heart. The poem asks you to stop chasing for a while and let the storm blow over.
What to do today
Pick one thing you have been rushing after, and let it rest for the day.
A word from the capybara
When thunder rolls, staying indoors until the door opens again is wise.
