Misfortune

道業未成時

事煩心緒乱

In English

  • While your path of practice is not yet complete
  • who would expect both sides to go wrong?
  • affairs grow tangled and the mind is unsettled
  • and instead your thoughts wander back and forth
Meaning
The word that matters is wandering in the last line, a mind pacing back and forth. With your practice still unfinished and affairs tangled on both sides, narrowing your focus looks like the way to stop the pacing.
