Autumn starts today, on paper. Find some shade.
Start of autumn begins the traditional autumn, though it's usually still hot. From here, it's called lingering heat.
autumn starts on paper, I fan myself in the shade
Today is Risshu, the start of autumn in the old calendar. In reality it's usually still the height of summer. From today on, though, the heat gets a new name in Japanese: lingering heat.
A new name doesn't change the temperature. But if you see dragonflies over a field in the evening, it may be a sign that autumn is slowly heading this way.
Today's luck is hiding in the shade. It doesn't come out into the sun. On a hot afternoon, step into some shade and see if you can find it.
Try this today
- Send a late-summer greeting to someone
- Look for dragonflies in the evening sky
- Rest in the shade for a while
