No. 118

Day and night are even again. Give the night a little extra sleep.

On the autumn equinox, day and night are about the same length. From here, the nights grow longer.

the nights begin to grow, I give them ten more minutes of sleep

Today is Shubun, the autumn equinox. Like the spring equinox, day and night are close to equal. It is also the middle day of the autumn higan week in Japan.

In spring, people eat sweet rice cakes called botamochi; in autumn, almost the same sweet goes by the name ohagi. Same treat, new name for the season. It just changes outfits.

From tomorrow, the nights start getting longer. Turn the lights on a little earlier, and give some of that extra darkness to sleep.

Try this today
