No. 19
Bed is half the world.
On hard mornings, you're allowed to linger in the warmth.
Some mornings, your eyes open but the rest of you absolutely refuses to. The reflex is to scold yourself. "Get up properly." But you don't actually have to.
The warmth under the blanket, the soft texture of the sheets, the haze of dream still in your head: that's a real, complete world. You don't want to leave it because it feels good, and that feeling isn't something to override.
Five minutes of lingering is fine. Don't grab your phone. Just feel the warmth, and admit your eyelids are heavy. Then slowly stretch your arms, and ease yourself into the day. No rushing yourself out into the world. Let today's morning be a kind one.
Try this today
- Linger in bed for five minutes after waking, no phone
- Stretch once before getting out
- Have a favorite drink ready beside you for that first sip
