No. 92

Stillness is doing something. Moss knows this.

Staying still isn't doing nothing. Sometimes it's the most active choice.

Moss never hurries. It stays in one place for years, spreading so slowly you could never catch it moving. It doesn't compete, doesn't announce itself, doesn't strive. And yet it thrives, soft and green, and in some traditions its quiet stillness is treasured as a kind of beauty all its own.

We tend to assume that staying still means doing nothing, and that doing nothing is a waste. But stillness is its own activity. When you stop moving, your body recovers, your mind settles, things quietly sort themselves out beneath the surface. The stillness is the work.

Today, give yourself permission to be moss for a while. Stay where you are. Don't fill the quiet with motion just to feel productive. Let stillness be the thing you're doing, fully and without guilt. Like moss, you can flourish by holding your place.
