Rain boots on. Half chore, half game.

Grain rain is the soft spring rain said to nourish crops. Keep your umbrella where you can see it.

soft rain falls on the fields, my boots find the deepest puddle

Today is Kokuu, grain rain, the last of the spring solar terms. It is the season of gentle rain that waters freshly planted fields.

For the crops, this rain is welcome. For you, it might just be one more thing to deal with. One trick: put on boots and step in a puddle on purpose. The chore turns, at least partly, into a game.

Today is about half good. Keep the other half for when the rain stops and everything smells like wet earth.

Try this today

  • Leave your umbrella right by the front door
  • Step in one puddle with your boots on
  • Listen to the rain for one full minute
